Product Description

The Viking Blade Crafts Wooden Viking Shield Series returns to the heavily structured design of Shield while introducing a striking weathered ocean-blue background. At its center is the legendary Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, rendered in a dramatic dark design across the blue wooden face.

The shield is constructed from horizontally aligned solid wood planks and features a substantial hand-crafted steel central boss surrounded by a reinforced iron framework. Six iron spokes extend outward from the center, while a  steel perimeter rim and prominent rivets complete the rugged appearance.

The defining visual feature is the contrast between the dark coiling Midgard Serpent and the ocean-blue wooden background. The circular serpent composition flows around the central ironwork, giving Shield its distinctive sea-inspired identity

Wooden Plank Body

The shield is constructed from horizontally aligned solid wood planks. A rich ocean-blue finish covers the face while allowing the natural grain, knots, and texture of the wood to remain visible.

The darker weathering around the edges gives the shield an aged, seasoned appearance and creates a strong contrast with the blue center.

In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr, also known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent, is the enormous serpent associated with the ocean surrounding Midgard.

According to the surviving Norse mythology, Jörmungandr was cast into the sea surrounding the human world and grew to such an enormous size that it could encircle Midgard and grasp its own tail.

Jörmungandr is particularly associated with Thor, including their famous encounter and their eventual confrontation at Ragnarök.
