Inspired by the powerful goats of Norse mythology, this 23-inch Goat Carved Axe combines an extensively carved premium Rosewood handle with a newly modified hand-forged blade profile.

The handle features a fully three-dimensional goat/ram head pommel, with prominent curled horns, detailed facial features, and textured carving. The shaft continues the theme with geometric chevrons, deep relief textures, a circular Nordic knotwork medallion, and additional ornamental carving.

The hand-forged steel head gives this Goat Axe its own identity within the collection, featuring a slender elongated socket, dramatically swept bearded profile, high pointed toe, and intricate goat-themed blade etching. A polished cutting bevel completes the distinctive design.

Tanngrisnir is one of the two goats associated with Thor in Norse mythology, alongside Tanngnjóstr. In the Prose Edda, the two goats are described as drawing Thor's chariot. They are therefore a genuine part of the surviving Norse literary tradition, rather than a modern invention.

The Tanngrisnir Vanguard is a modern handcrafted interpretation inspired by this mythology, not a reproduction of a documented Viking axe.
